Milltown is a pleasant little village situated on the upper reaches of the Clare River, on the N17 between Tuam, County Galway, and Claremorris in County Mayo. It is noted for its trout and salmon fishing. The local Development Association won the 1991 Ireland West Tourism Environmental Quality Award for the restoration of the old mill tank and the provision of a 1.5km meter river walk.

In 2000, this project won 1st place in the “Waterside Award” in the National Tidy Towns Competition.

It is near fishing locations, golf clubs and outdoor activities for all the family with two walks on its doorstep.
